Im sad to loose 2 rabbits so close together?

had spriky 5 years she was a lop cross rabbit kept indoors she was happy and timid she never bit anyone she developed a illness and after lots of vet care very expencive we had her put to sleep . we got poppy 3 weeks ago lionhead cross though ressembled a lionhead,she was fine bought her lovely outside hutch with full pssp out cover and hubby built an out building to keep out draughs and rain. 2 days ago for some reason she stopped eating was listless an quiet, she waas pooing weeing so didnt seem much wrong then yesterday morning she had all mucus uderneath her i took her to vet who diagnosed mucroid emperathy i kept her in the hospital all night as its a fatal illness to give her best chance but when i went to collect her today she was no better really her teeth were grinding and she was pulling her fur out so we opted for euthanasia im so sad we took her in from a family that had 4 rabbitts in a small hutch she was a baby but vet told us stress change of diet and surroundings contributed to the condition she got. so noiw left with lovely new hutch ect but cant bear the pain of loosing any more pets could this problem have beeen prevented?
