Is this plotline too morbid and depressing?

If there was a story about an abused wife & a physically disabled man, would you want to read it or do you think it's too morbid?? The abuse of the wife is described in detail. And the disabled man talks about how he became disabled. Should it be toned down a bit?? The story does have a happy ending, so it's not entirely gruesome.
