Is the notice period DEDUCTION is a part of taxable income?

As my employer have deducted the amount of Rs 44000 as a notice period . However same is also showing as taxable income in my Form 16 . Pls let me know if this is correct as in this case i hv to pay the tax on the amount which i never received.
