My insurer dropped me because I live with a felon? He is not on my policy but they dropped me anyway?

I have had the same insurance company for over 15 years. I added my live in boyfriend to the policy a few years ago and then I removed him. They asked me why and I told them we were separated because he was incarcerated. They told me that even though I removed him from the policy that if he moved back into my residence they would not re-new my policy because they do not insure anyone who has a felon in their household. They went onto to tell me that even if we were married they would only maintain my policy if I got a divorce and that they would need a copy of the divorce decree. What ever happened to "... for better , for worse- the sanctity of marriage and unconditional love for family and friends????
